Congressional Decree 22-2008 of 9 April 2008 issues the Law Against Femicide and Other Forms of Violence against Women with the particular aim of guaranteeing the life, the freedom, integrity, the dignity, the protection and the equality of all the women before the law, and of the law, when by condition of sort, in the relations of being able or confidence, in the pubic or private scope whomever assaults, acts against them in a discriminating manner, of physical, psychological, economic violence or of contempt to its rights establishing for such aim the definitions that will be understood for effects of the measured fulfillment of the Law as well as of preventive nature, crimes and penalties, restitution unto the victims, Responsibility of the State and Obligations of the State.

It amends article 2 of Congressional Decree 70-96 that contains the Law for the Protection of Persons in Proceedings and Persons Connected with the Administration of Criminal Justice. Several provisions shall be applied additionally as established in the Criminal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Law of the Judicial Organism, Law for the Dignification and Integral Promotion of Women, Law of Social Development, Civil Code, Procedural Civil and Mercantile Code.
