Law 1246 of December 31, 1962 enacts the Political Parties Act. Enacts this Act in order to secure the organizations necessary for the involvement of political parties in the creation of political opinions by the public and to guarantee democratic organization and activities of political parties. Provides that a political party shall consist of a central party located in the capital city and district party chapters organized at the level of local constituencies of members of the National Assembly; requires not less than thirty promoters for the preparation of establishment of a political party; fixes the statutory number of members of a district party chapter at fifty; stipulates that a political party shall have a representative organ, executive organ and a general meeting of National Assemblymen; and sets forth matters related to recommendation of candidates for public elections, dissolution, registration and cancellation of political parties, etc..
