Law 6399 of January 29, 2001 enacts the Quality Control of Fishery Products Act. Aims to promote the productivity and safety of the fishery products through conducting appropriate control of the fishery products quality and to make a contribution to income increase for fishermen and consumer protection through promoting fishery products processing industry. Introduces the quality approval system in respect to fishery products and fishery special products and allows a producers' group, etc. to be designated as the quality approving organization so that people engaging in fishing industry can by themselves improve the quality of fishery products and fishery special products; and, for the purpose of preventing fishery products and fishery special products from being mixed with harmful materials or from being contaminated while being manufactured and processed, introduces the priority system to manage harmful elements for human health which determines harmful elements and important managing factors at each stage of manufacturing, processing, etc. so that safety and the quality of those products can be improved by managing those products according thereto.
