Decree-Law 391/99 of 20 September 1999 changes the name of the "Fundacao das Descobertas," the Discoveries Foundation, that was instituted by Decree-Law 361/91 of 3 October 1991, to "Fundacao Centro Cultural de Belem," the Cultural Center Foundation of Belem. The Statutes of the Foundation follow the Decree-Law. The Statutes specify the various activities the Foundation may pursue, and they include: maintaining museums, creation of documentation and training centers, offering cultural performances and expositions, promotion of courses, publishing, exchanges with national or foreign institutuions, and several other activities.
