Summary (English)	An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act, the Members of Parliament Retiring Allowances Act and the Salaries Act, S.C. 1998, c. 23, and received Royal Assent on 18 June 1998, and allows Members of the House of Commons to decide if they want the Member of Parliament Retiring Allowances Act to apply to them as amendments to this Act took away some of their allowance rights. The Act also includes measures for the payment of a supplementary severance allowance to Members to which the Act does not apply, and increases salaries and allowances of Members of Parliament by 2 percent per year from 1 January 1998 until 31 December 2000. The Act came into force upon Royal Assent. (Bill C-47, 16 sections, pp. 981-988).
(French)	La Loi modifiant la Loi sur le Parlement du Canada, la Loi sur les allocations de retraite des parlementaires et la Loi sur les traitements, L.C. 1998, ch. 23, a reçu la sanction royale le 18 juin 1998, et elle permet aux députés de choisir de se soumettre à l'application de la Loi sur les allocations des parlementaires, puisque les modifications apportées à la Loi retirent certaines allocations auxquelles ils avaient droit. La Loi prévoit aussi le versement d'une indemnité de départ supplémentaire aux députés auxquels la Loi ne s'applique pas, puis elle augmente les traitements et les indemnités payables aux parlementaires de deux pour cent par année, du 1er janvier 1998 au 31 décembre 2000. La Loi est entrée en vigueur après avoir reçu la sanction royale (projet de loi C 47, 16 articles, p. 981 à 988).
