Summary (English)	An Act to amend the Nunavut Act and the Constitution Act, 1867, S.C. 1998, c. 15, received Royal Assent on 11 June 1998, and amends provisions on the administration of Nunavut’s laws and courts, and provides measures to hold the election of the first Legislative Assembly of Nunavut, including its function and powers. The Act also provides measures allowing the federal government to lease housing and other facilities to the Nunavut government. The Act, other than sections 43 to 47 which came into force on 1 April 1999, came into force upon Royal Assent. Section 78 of the Nunavut Act, as enacted by section 27(1), is deemed to have come into force on 26 November 1996. (Bill C-39, 52 sections, pp. 289-320).
(French)	La Loi modifiant la Loi sur le Nunavut et la Loi constitutionnelle de 1867, L.C. 1998, ch. 15, a reçu la sanction royale le 11 juin 1998, et elle modifie des dispositions sur l'administration des lois et des tribunaux du Nunavut, puis elle prévoit des mesures visant à tenir les premières élections législatives du Nunavut, y compris les fonctions et les pouvoirs de l'assemblée législative. La Loi prévoit aussi des mesures permettant au gouvernement fédéral de céder des baux au gouvernement du Nunavut. La Loi, sauf les articles 43 à 47, qui sont entrés en vigueur le 1er avril 1999, est entrée en vigueur après avoir reçu la sanction royale. L'article 78 de la Loi sur le Nunavut, tel qu'édicté par le paragraphe 27(1), est entré en vigueur le 26 novembre 1996 (projet de loi C-39, 52 articles, p. 289-320).
